It's time for E3 this week. I have kept up as best I can, and already I've seen stuff to like. First off, the big thing for me. Xbox One will have full backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games coming this holiday season. Combined with the 1TB model released this week and things are looking good.
We saw some good release info for Halo 5, Tomb Raider, and Doom. It's going to be a good year for Xbox fans in my opinion. Combined with the forth coming Hololens, Oculus Rift coming with an XB-One Controller, and Windows 10 releasing next month it should be an interesting year. I’m defiantly working on getting what I need to enjoy those games ASAP. The Big Box is being built as a nice mid-range system for casual gaming and some net work.
Also, we got a first look at Mass Effect: Andromeda today. I’m going to link you to the YouTube videos for all of the above, but that’s really the biggest stuff.
1TB Xbox One will probably still require you to use a really big external drive if you want to hold ALL your games offline and there ready to go. Xbox One has a rather decent setup as it relates to digital content you’ve purchased and deleted from your hard drive for space. I would think you could make use of it rather well, and we’ll see how things work as time goes by.
The good thing about Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility is that they will automatically transfer your 360 digital library to your Xbox One library. You should start seeing that sometime this fall near the holidays. Preview folks will start seeing it today or tomorrow.
I’m a fan of the Xbox Experience, and I’m liking where Microsoft is taking things for both PC, Tablets, Phones, and Consoles this year. We’ll have to see how that build up as I’ve not seen anything that compels me to follow PlayStation 3 / 4. We’ll have to see what Sony brings out this week.
